I watch a lot of let's plays and playthroughs of puzzle games, since I like to see how different people solve problems and approach the design of the levels. I like to see the way games accommodate different styles of thinking.
I noticed a pattern though. Usually women (even smart ones who get through the game) are completely unable to pick up on more than the game's base gameplay systems without handholding. Games which have ambient story, artistic themes, or humor tend to land with just a vacant blank stare. The artistic vision of the game is lost on them, whereas men usually pick up on it.
It's also the case with games like soulslikes where the storytelling is very shallow and vague. They just won't register it at all.
I think women just aren't suited to engaging with games as an artistic medium.

I think it's the opposite though based purely on your example. Or rather based on your example, it's not indicative of what you think.

Men tend to see games as a toy, overwhelmingly so. We see it has a puzzle and a problem whose ultimate goal is one that needs to be solved. That's why we enjoy those puzzle intermissions.
We are also designed for problem solving and enjoy the experience more.

Women don't see games as a puzzle to be solved but as a vehicle for character dialogue/performance or for cinematic storytelling. They also find puzzles to be incompatible with the action setpieces, and generally the gameified parts of games because they're incongruent with the rest of the experience, which it is. Like imagine James Bond stopping in the middle of Casino Royale to play poker, I bet women hate that part.
That's why for them those puzzle sequences might feel inane because for them it offers neither storytelling (slowed down pace for player to consider environmental storytelling aside) which could be better offered by cutscenes or dialogue nor gameplay (which they don't consider puzzles to be due to finding them tiresome and too challenging).

So while you're right that women might not enjoy those segments the reasons are actually the opposite from what you think, which are
1. They treat games LESS as a toy/puzzle
2. They enjoy story and plot advancement MORE

It's a snowball effect, women tend to only do what they see other women doing. I believe it started with twitch streaming. Then twitch vods started appearing on youtube without declaring that they are vods (e.g. "[game] playthrough part 1!!!" with an ugly roastie's face plastered on the thumbnail and it just turns out to be an unedited twitch stream vod) but this illusion made it so roasties actually started making youtube lets plays.

Youtube kept recommending me roastoids so i decided to watch one of them talk about CoD, and she spent half the video complaining about "toxicity", and the other half very broadly talking about a bunch of bullshit like microtransactions, nothing about the actual gameplay, what sucks about it or what could be improved. Women don't understand anything they do. They're more like dogs, they just "are" for the most part but you can teach them some tricks. They won't know or really care why they're doing them within themselves though.
