The bottle was extraordinary. Like the others, it glowed; this one in a faint blue hue. It had a kind of bulbous shape. Around the base, a train was etched in fine detail. It was in the attitude of traveling around the base. In the background behind the train, a pine forest was etched. In the upper part of the bottle clouds and the sun were sketched on one side; the moon and stars on the other side. All of this was beautifully colored.
>"Go ahead and pick it up, Anon. Do you like it?"
He did so, running a finger along it and then picking it up by the neck with one hand and cradling the bottom in the other. He found that it was warm to the touch, and that it felt irresistible in his hands, like the tingling of static electricity. "Nobody's ever given me something this beautiful, Bottlecap. Are you sure it's ok?
>She just laughed. "Of course it is, silly!" She continued to watch eagerly as he turned it over in his hand.
And, true to his detail oriented nature, Anon was studying the bottle very closely. Drinking in each detail. He even noticed the rivets in the side of the locomotive. As he turned it around, he heard a distinct tinkling from inside. "Well, looks like there's a bit of glass inside."
>Bottlecap knew he couldn't help but notice something small like that; that was its purpose. "Oops! Sometimes little bits of glass get leftover inside when I make bottles." Her face went somewhat flat. "Um...won't you do me a favor...and, um...just kinda dump it out?"
So mesmerized by the bottle, Anon hadn't noticed the shift in Bottlecap's demeanor and voice. "Sure!" Smiling, he gripped the glass stopper to remove it."
>Bottlecap quietly bit her lower lip, her tongue rubbed her upper mouth in anxiety, her eyes fixed like steel on Anon's hand.
Upturning the bottle, Anon released the imprisoned bit of glass on to the floor.
>Bottlecap followed the glass speck to the floor with a blank face. Then raised her eyes to meet Anon's. A terrible, but saccharine grin slowly contorted her face; her pearly white teeth glistened in the glow of her bottles. This smile she presented to Anon. She smiled at him from the darkness.
He smiled at her, oblivious. "No problem." He moved to put the stopper back in the bottle.
>"Ah, no need to re-cork it, Anon. I still need to work on it anyway."
Anon shrugged and placed the bottle on the table, and the stopper next to it. "Sure thing!"
>Bottlecap's excitement grew and she gave a little laugh.
It was contagious and Anon laughed with her. Then he noticed something. He looked at the bottle he had opened, Bottlecap's gift, then at the other bottles. It occurred to him that except for the terrariums, these were the only other bottles he had seen that had stoppers. Curious, he asked the question "So, is it just a matter of style that these ones have stoppers?
