What is there to have that'd be more advanced? That and you should be well aware how we've basically frozen ourselves in time to circa the 80s. I think culturally we're starting to finally shake that off but it'd been the way of things for like 15 years now.

So it'd utterly lack the charm of anamatronics, but I figure Vtuber-esque shit (Performing actor behind a digital screen) would be appealing for audiences. Apparently disney has someone do so as that turtle from Finding Nemo. It's for kids, but you'd just do it for adults. Since I think the success of vtuber shit is both (1) Waifu oneitis retards but also (2) Many more people can be a lot more outgoing, funny and engaging when they are no longer insecure about their appearance but are in an idealized form.
I'm not saying this is necessarily a 'good' idea so much as it's a marketable idea

>in the context of videogames, retro doesn't mean "made x many years ago"
I get your point and I agree with it since retro-futurism is specific to a particular era and retro-sci-fi doesn't magically mean 90s-2000s sci fi because it's in the past. But city hall at least says X many years ago. But again, I get your point and share that view that retro should mean a specific 70s to early 90s era, and something from say 2000 is just older rather than retro.
