A machine translation is something that is used for quick translations to get the message across. There is no human supervision to check how well the translation conveys the original meaning.
A computer-assisted translation is a translation that uses computer tools to assist a translator but nonetheless takes a significant amount of time, because a human translator still has to ensure that every line conveys the meaning correctly. Also, somebody else checked the translation quality--with no tooling whatsoever except for Jisho. I spent more than 300 hours on the translation while runnig the script through a LLM takes less than a hour. At least time wise, saying AI had a significant part in it is disingenuous. A lot of other tooling which I've programmed was also used, like a spellchecker and formatting checker. Also on that part, the human factor of still finding mistakes took closer to 100+ hours compared to the 1 minute it took to run those tools. There are some references I did not pick one, which Vino did pick out which are now in the script.
Zeta_BM, do you speak any other languages? If so, do you feel like using a dictionary and a thesaurus to find a way to represent a word in an other language biases your result? I personally feel like it's often pretty clear when something "works" or "does not work."
The first part of the game is something that's very complex in how it's phrased, it's something that needs heavy localization which requires a lot of thinking. A LLM is good at simple lines, not the the hard ones. It's exactly the parts which are technically not difficult but content wise difficult that a LLM absolutely fails at. The human factor is absolutely there.
I don't translate to show case my own writing prowess, so I wouldn't consider my writing "art" to begin with though :/"
