A machine translation is something that is used for quick translations to get the message across. There is no human supervision to check how well the translation conveys the original meaning.

A computer-assisted translation is a translation that uses computer tools to assist a translator but nonetheless takes a significant amount of time, because a human translator still has to ensure that every line conveys the meaning correctly. Also, somebody else checked the translation quality--with no tooling whatsoever except for Jisho. I spent more than 300 hours on the translation while runnig the script through a LLM takes less than a hour. At least time wise, saying AI had a significant part in it is disingenuous. A lot of other tooling which I've programmed was also used, like a spellchecker and formatting checker. Also on that part, the human factor of still finding mistakes took closer to 100+ hours compared to the 1 minute it took to run those tools. There are some references I did not pick one, which Vino did pick out which are now in the script.

Zeta_BM, do you speak any other languages? If so, do you feel like using a dictionary and a thesaurus to find a way to represent a word in an other language biases your result? I personally feel like it's often pretty clear when something "works" or "does not work."

The first part of the game is something that's very complex in how it's phrased, it's something that needs heavy localization which requires a lot of thinking. A LLM is good at simple lines, not the the hard ones. It's exactly the parts which are technically not difficult but content wise difficult that a LLM absolutely fails at. The human factor is absolutely there.

I don't translate to show case my own writing prowess, so I wouldn't consider my writing "art" to begin with though :/"

So Generative AI is mostly used as a CAT tool to give an initial suggestion of how each line could be translated. It's similar in how you could use a dictionary to give potential ways to translate a word. A LLM is useful as it can give a translation that already works "grammatically" and also guess the context in broad lines and provide the meaning a word actually has in the context. It makes it easier as I have to open the dictionary far less often. Basically, each part of the script was given in chunks to a LLM, to give an "initial" translation suggestion.

- Even if a LLM gives a good translation that's fine you still have to add in all the click waits and fix the formatting.

The intro has a bunch of interesting prose that AI can't pick up on at all for example. トン吉 becomes tonkitsu, instead of something that would actually represent the meaning of it in English.
- Sex scenes and the like have to be done through other means. Violent scenes also a big no no sometimes. "manual translation" is still a thing in these parts. J101 has a lot of this...
- A LLM has no context of what happens in the long term. Translation conventions are a big one, but also when a reference was made to a previous line in the game."

I went in expecting to drop it early and came out loving it. Gonna miss all the girls for sure.
After the hyping up of the mystery throughout the games, the reveal did end up being underwhelming. But it's fine, the full Flowers experience was still very fun and the positives of the series outweigh the nitpicks I could make.

Also liked Erika and Yuzuriha as protagonists more. Sorry, Suoh-chan. I can’t say I dislike any of the girls, they’re great characters. Erika and Chidori are undoubtedly the best though. Their relationship is the star of the entire series and their interactions continue being standouts in the scenes they get in the following games.
Games: Ete > Automne > Hiver > Printemps
Automne had the best music and Hiver had the best uniforms.
Excellent soundtrack throughout, both new tracks and seasonal remixes. Aside from the art being great, the effort put in to give the characters multiple outfits and costumes throughout the games along with unique backgrounds really shows how much love and soul was put into Flowers. I enjoyed this so much I could probably write a lot more specific stuff about what I liked but no one is reading this anyways kek.

If you're specifically looking for more VN-related h-asmrs, there's not a ton. What I'd suggest is looking into drama CDs - lots of companies still put out drama CDs and you can usually find them in the torrent of the original game's release, and they're basically the same as h-asmrs. I know purplesoft has done a couple, but I wouldn't say they're great. Their ntr one in particular is pretty terrible (not because it's ntr, it's terrible because the plot is MC's girlfriend is the team manager of a soccer team and goes away on a training camp where she gets gangbanged and all the scenes are her talking to MC on the phone so there's a filter over all of the audio making it sound way worse). There's also a bunch of Taimanin h-asmrs, which vary wildly in quality (Asagi's is great, Maika's is great, Shiranui's is alright, Rinko's is really disappointing but has some good scenes, the Asagi/Oboro 3P depends on how much you like Oboro reverse raping (You) while Asagi watches).
