You are both wrong, sweet spot angle is ~60 degrees so you do not need to check the 1:30 position. You only need to check two spots at 12:00 and 2:00. The third can be swung at because that is a faster animation and checking still uses stamina. If that is not the spot then you can deduce the opposite of position 3 is and do not need to check that either
