it worked because it was a dumb fantasy. I don't think a man would have pulled off the "spin on a spear sticking out of the ground at a 90 degree angle and kick everyone in the face" any better than a woman could. it's not a real thing people can do.

though if anyone could pull it off, it would be a girl, since they are lighter.
