Except one time it did. I fucking loved the attorney that represented Charles Mansen. He was so sleazy and hilarious. But his story ends and you move on.
A while after I read Helter Skelter, I picked up another book called The Onion Field. It's about two cops who got murdered in LA around that time. They didn't even give the name of the defence attorney defending the bad guys in that one but I recognized him instantly by his antics and that really blew my mind. Irving fucking Kanarek, back again to defend the scummiest people with the scummiest tactics, who makes prosecutors fucking seeth. It was amazing. That will never happen again.
