Zero objectives achieved, no WMD removed, replaced an already castigated and passive leader and stabilizing element with a shitshow at massive cost with no political, economic or territorial gain of any kind.
Taliban is also a full loss. Vietnam tier with US citizens and US allies splattering on TV falling off planes trying to run away from the advancing Talibans as the pro American forces retreaded while suffering losses from bombings at the last airport. Bad to evacuate the embassy like in Vietnam as it was getting surrounded. Ended up leaving hundreds of US citizens stuck around the country as they got cut off and unable to reach the last evacuation points.
That's not just a loss that is an humiliation and embarrassment. This was not against a Soviet proxy either but against literal uneducated sheep mongers with some friends in Pakistan.
Afghanistan was such an embarrassing shitshow that US tv channels got pressured in reducing the coverage because it was just so bad near the end.
