The worst part is that Colbert himself acknowledged the reports that his show was losing $40-$50 million a year and instead of denying them or anything he just made a lame joke and moved on as if the joke made it an invalid argument.
CBS and it's parent company are just that: companies. Their goal at the end of the day is supposed to be to make money. Not to make "orange man bad" jokes every night. There have been plenty of shows that actually made their networks money and still got cancelled for seemingly no reason, but we're supposed to act like Colbert is some martyr and CBS should just continue losing money on him?
