This is how I was raised, and I'm a 31-year-old who can't go grocery shopping because I'm terrified of interacting with humans. I've also got some PTSD/OCD combination that makes me dissociate and obsess over humans as a concept (history, philospohy, anthropology, biology, neurology.)
