As someone who was homeschooled, I disagree. Being around the wide varieties of characters and persons that came in and out of my father and mothers home and neighborhood was a great social education. I still participated in recreational sports in my community and interacted with my peers in that way. I'd actually go as far as to say that I had less of a problem in social settings than many of my peers who attended public school. I was more confident and vocal in sports, for example, than most of my peers who attended public school. I also was able to get a job at a grocery store much earlier with a more open schedule which is a more vibrant social environment when you consider that much of public schooling these days is comprised of sitting in desks and listening to teachers for hours on end, whereas a job requires constant communication, interaction and collaboration with coworkers.

To put it another way: how many socially awkward, socially stunted people do you know who attended public school? Probably several. Attending public school does not gaurantee one acquires a vibrant social personality.
