I had a thought popping in my head while reading this. Hadn't occurred to me the other hundred times. I've seen this image but for some reason it did this time. The armillary sphere that Hermes Trismegistus is usually seen holding, sparked the thought of reminding me of the liahona of Latter Day Saint fame. It's been years since I was a practicing Mormon, but if I recall correctly, the liahona was gifted to Lehi to aid in navigating his family to the Promised Land. While the armillary sphere is meant to represent the cycles of the heavens. I always find it odd that the liahona compass was in the shape of a sphere. I don't know if there's anything directly that ties these two together. I would need to do more research, but as a burgeoning thought I wanted to share it.
