This happened right after the destruction of the Temple
Israelites are being mocked that their god is weak and they are demanding an explanation

And here is God telling them outright that he takes responsibility for everything
God warned Israel over and over that if they continued their ways, he would lift his protection
Which is exactly what he did

And he is not defending his actions. He is taking full responsibility for allowing evil to happen. The only question you may ask is "why" and the answer is that every tragedies can be reversed to make good things greater

Jesus' crucifixion led to the salvation of mankind

This doesn't mean that he wants things to fall.
It just means that whatever bad things befall upon the faithful shall be turned into something magnificent.

Just have faith in his plans
