Yeah this is the exact same thing Trump means when he says that Canada belongs to America.
Spain = Hispania = Roman name for Iberia. It’s a geographic location that by definition includes Portugal. The Spanish government is a government that claims to represent unified rule over that geographic location.
Same thing with us. America is the geographical location. Canada is part of that geographic location. The United States of America is a government claiming manifest authority over all states in America. Canada is by definition an intrinsic part of US territory.
