Most people have a long face, that's what all humans faces generally look like unless you're 400 lbs, and so it happens, 99% of people are directed towards the horrendous cutaway collar, as that is the compliment to the long face.
The collar, when properly shaped, forms a geometric pattern with the shape of the tie and the shape of the lapels, this is what you should be focussed on when you put together a shirt, tie, and jacket, the abstract design it forms on your chest, not the way it compliments your face, because that's just totally bogus
