When the flashlight was shone through the ayy's eyes, we should be able to observe a phenomenon called subsurface scattering (see picrel), because all real complex-eyes (and not pseudo-eyes like those of primitive animals) must be translucent to some degree to allow the passage of light. But we did not, because that thing is a puppet made out of acrylic resin.
