Ridiculous good ambience and build up, you can notice the author actually bothered reading Lovecraftian stories for the references he dropped here and there but has a really rushed ending.
The chapter screams they were cutting corners to the point on release it had goddamn timelocks to it.
As for Abigail: Outer Gods don't work by the same rules as Divine Spirits of Fate that depend on worship, rather they sow and reap powers from madness. ''Outer'' Foreigners, the ones connected to Elder and Outer Gods work as essentially ''Saints'' that channel miracles, but they do so with madness. They are chosen for a purpose.
In Abigail's case, Salem's Witch trials with all those hangings were basically festering grounds to charge madness/power and she in turn can channel those which via the Silver Key opened a path from FGO's timeline to whatever plane of existence the Outer Gods belong.
She becomes the first Foreigners Servant. Some people in-game believe this estabilished a flaw in the system for Outer Gods to have means to invade, while others believe it's proof that the system is working in place since they essentially have to play by our rules to exploit it and therefore will be under surveillance.

Outer Gods are also bizarre that in a situation they oppose one another (''Madness Farming'' is zero sum, one gets all and others get nothing) they actually cause more stability, while destruction is widespread if they work together. So deploying a Foreigner in case of another hostile invasion theoretically reduces the casualties to the minimum.
