they're a spacefaring race so they should have at least mastered some basic gene editing right now, frankly it's surprising they don't have an entirely artificial gestation scheme, since the females are warriors too and would probably object to carrying children for so long.
nontheless even if the best they can manage is incest, you would think the Viltrumites would care more about ensuring they are meeting repopulation numbers.
Is that why Conquest was sent? did they decide humans are the best rootstock species to make hybrids out of? It seems like whatever species Oliver is grows faster, is stronger, and develops their powers faster. All good things in the event of a population crisis.
