Germany does it right and better than America. They have well built homes within villages rather than stick and sheet rock homes within neighborhoods. What I mean by that is their version of a neighborhood is a no shit village complete with grocery stores, churches, schools, banks, barber, bakers, etc. all within a 1 square mile walkable distance AND an actual elected town council governing it all. America has bedroom neighborhoods where all of that is outside of that 1 mile, walkable distance governed by an HOA more interested in maintaining property values of the homes than the quality of life surrounding them. In addition, Germany has sidewalks within the towns, cut-throughs for walking between houses and usually hard paved paths between villages if not farm roads.
The reason America doesn't have this is simple- we have diversity and we don't want wandering negros bumbling through our safe neighborhoods, so we make our stuff as distant as possible to prevent that.
