I've never actually played Elden Ring nor Dark Souls but I've been enjoying Nightrein enough that I'm considering playing the "actual" game. I already own it, after all.
I'm debating whether to play with a 2H Sword and play around Guard Counters, or a Shield+Spear and do the same thing.

I don't *need* the Deflecting Hardtear if I want to use a 2H to block, right? I don't actually own the DLC anyways, I'd buy it once I got to that point if I'm enjoying myself. I figure with the Greatshield Talisman and whatnot, surely it's enough Guard Boost and the Damage Negation isn't that bad-.
