I got through a lot of the base game using Greatsword to block. It's got something like an 80% physical block and nearly doubles as a shield with the rest of it's stats.
You do kind of need the hardtear if you aren't using that though. Nightreign gave every weapon 100% physical block so it's a very different experience

Revenant seems fundamentally confused on the gameplay front. Like they couldn't figure out what to do with her. No way to gain fp, so being a spell caster doesn't work, negative hp so melee is incredibly risky, only one summon at a time, and a passive that in theory should be great but in practice is surprisingly difficult to get off. She has like everything working against her. And an ult too, that it seems like no one can agree on how to use it best. It's just weird man. They probably had the sick concept for her but the gameplay designers couldn't figure out how to integrate her.

Rev works fine as a melee back attacker and using aoe casts the ones that make you kneel because they make you so small nothing will hit you besides other aoes. You charge them when you team is critting and release them when they're done. You'll get big damage and be super useful with rally or aoe heals and buffs. Her biggest issue is the loot pools not having much she can grab and synergize with besides incant passives since there's there's a very limited amount of aoes she can get get output with + are the bosses weakness + come on seals or actually scale with faith. Ranged is generally bad for rev because the rally potential of spells and crossbows is really shit and misses the window if there's any windup.

Would you recommend Guardian Swordspear or Clayman Harpoon for a dex/int build? The plan is to go Ice Spear on one of those for the first chunk of the game but have the stats to swap to Wing of Astel or Carian Sorcery Sword at some point without having to respec.
