I'm 28.
Don't work dead end jobs. I worked in the back of a kitchen for 5 years, I thought I was the fucking shit for making decent money compared to my peers at the time (good tips!). But my friends were grinding low paying jobs that went somewhere. Now half of them approach 6 figures, and I have 5 worthless years on my resume.
You need to think much harder on your next few jobs than you think you'll need to. You won't be a fresh faced kid for very long (read: able and willing to be trained correctly). If you are in your 30s and trying out a new career you will NOT be given as many graces or benefit of the doubt as an early twenties-something and they might not call you back.
Don't get into the habit of drugs or alcohol, and ESPECIALLY not using them alone. What an absolute waste that can be.

100%. I fell for that trap for years. It doesn't matter if you were actually fucked over and kicked around or not, dwelling on it stops you from moving forward and making something better.
