Americans were subjects of the crown (Spaniards) and therefore could not be enslaved. The abolition of slavery in the Hispanic Empire was established in 1482 AD (a decade prior the Inventio of America) and was sustained in 1492/1493 AD when Colon brought American slaves to Europe.
