I adopted my kitty about 8 months ago and when I got her, she was completely litter box trained. I brought her to my parents’ house for the summer from June-August, where they have 2 cats themselves. While she was there, she began peeing and pooping all around my parents’ house and not using the litter box as much. I thought it was the stress of the move/being with other cats, not liking the litter, etc.
But when I brought her back to my place after the summer, she was still pooping and peeing everywhere outside of the litter box. She poops on the couch and my bed regularly now, and rarely uses the litter box to poop. She usually uses the litter box to pee, but she has also been peeing on the couch and the rug next to the litter box. I did some research and saw that if cats pee next to their litter box it might be because it’s painful due to urine crystals or a UTI, but I’m so confused about why she’s insisting on consistently pooping on the couch and my bed. I have a vet appointment for this week, but I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas or experiences with this.
