they see that atheism leads inevitably to nihilism so they have no reason to be respectful and every reason to just follow the current zeitgeist and try to prove their superiority over everyone else while at the same being sarcastic lest anyone accuse them of having some kind of values and therefore being dumb for not recognizing the true nihilism of their own worldview.

their mindset is

>no afterlife no future
>so nothing really matters (and bitter about it)
>but since there's still some life to live try to get pleasure and power and superiority
