Ashina soldiers look like normal humans, lands between citizens don't, lands between citizens also never speak, even Yharnamites speak in the early stages of the beastly scourge.

Lands between residents just grunt and try to kill you except for the wandering nobles sometimes, and I guess the super rotten zombies that appear sometimes like the ones wandering the roads on Caelid.

There's obviously a process going on that's made people crazy and fucked up in the lands between and that's why the enemies are the way they are.
