Problem with EVE Online is that it's a conquered game. It has a sizable population of dedicated, long-term, organized players that effectively control the in-game world. They pay CCP and they've been paying, so they get what they want and what they want is to maintain control of the game. As a new player, you are fodder for them and only fodder, because that's how the game must be. They can't let a new player fuck up a veteran, that's not what the veteran paid for. It would be great if EVE pulled the whole retro-reboot server reset shtick and started a fresh world, but it would piss off their long-term supporters.
