When you heard from one of the women that the enemy warriors were going to pass through Kent Pass, you organized a defense for the village, which by now pretty much only had women and children. You helped the women handcraft bows and arrows and equipped them all, then laid in ambush at the pass.
Wave after wave of the enemies fell to your arrows and the enemy fled!
Months later, you learned that this glorious defense was essential for General Dravos to win a decisive victory in the region, driving the enemy even beyond the stagnated border and turning the tables!
He came visit to see who had organized such a magnificent defense!
He was surprised to learn that it was a woman.
He commended your martial bravery to the King himself, who deigned to turn Kent into a Baronate, and make you the Baroness.
Now, Alita, Baroness of Kent, Defender of Kent Pass, your story as ruler begins!
Kent has a population of 4,000 people, mainly women and children. There are very few men, and most of them are crippled or very old.
How are you going to solve the demographic problem, considering the war is still raging?
> Offer sanctuary for deserters and runaways. You need men, you don't care if they are cowards.
> Recruit war refugees. Start sending envoys to destroyed or collapsing villages and offer resettlement in Kent.
> Offer retirement for tired mercenaries. The willing women of Kent will be more than glad to marry those strong veterans from war, though this might weaken the war effort.
> Encourage polygamous households. This is no time to be picky, every seed is needed in the neighbourhood.
> Adopt orphans and war bastards. You have plenty of women who could take care of the war orphans that are all over the kingdom.
