It is that, and you are exactly right. This democracy we have is in name only and we have in effect ended up with a billionaire-run oligarchy with puppets for politicians. We don't even know who our dictators really are and yet they decide every course of action and leave their puppets to take the blame for how immoral it all is. If every system of government evolves into this state anyway, then why not just cut the bullshit and let the people choose their own dictator? The will of nations has been buried somewhere and we need to find it.
