You just gotta pick your EU's as they interest you. Not interested in the Yhuuzan Vong? No worries, ignore it. Want more Empire Vs. Republic stuff? Maybe the Thrawn Trilogy might be up your alley. Want more Sith being badasses and a morally gray take on the setting? Legacy is a good start. Like the Universe but hate how Skywalker-centric it is? The Old Republic era stuff is great.
