I don't get what you're trying to say. In so many settings there are evil wicked gods that it wouldn't make sense to follow what they say and not clash with them. You do that (as a decent at least individual) by aligning yourself with their adversaries who are usually morally good (and the occasional neutral) gods.
You can't be a true atheist in High Fantasy worlds. The only kind of "atheist" in these worlds is the one who knows about their existance but for xyz reason rejects them and tries to do his own thing.
