I feel less obnoxious making this connection since Ch4 is fucking brimming with HS references and influence: Splinters of the author and varying degrees of authorial power is one of Homestuck’s overarching plot elements. There’s Hussie, the actual literal self-insert, but there’s also different characters which each take control of the narrative and force themselves into the seat of the author, most notable being Doc Scratch. Doc Scratch is basically the Gaster of HS, having mapped out every eventuality and putting the pieces in place for things to play out how they’re “supposed” to, influencing the lives of the kids far prior to the start of the story. Gaster and Scratch also have similar devil motifs. I will say that Gaster is less immediately malicious (for the time being).
