It is an LSI 9211 8i that runs it. The server's hardware is more than 10 years old. There is an adapter in the case for SFF 8087 to 8088. One SFF 8087 cable to the adapter, one SFF 8088 to QSFP cable to the Netapp shelve and the shelves can be daisy-chained with one QSFP cable.
It runs three sets of 12 3 TB disk raidz2 on Arch Linux. I had only very bad experiences with TrueNAS.
My main server runs 6 20 TB HDDs with raidz and 2 2 TB NVME ssds for cache and special metadata vdev. It also has an Intel Arc A770 GPU for transcoding and encoding. Putting the metadata on SSD and a generous cache makes the system very fast and responsive while having a lot of storage from the HDDs.
