Is engineering still only good PvP profession?

I saw it didn't get boosts like other professions did, so I was thinking going alch, but then I noticed you can only have 1 (one) offensive and one (1) defensive elixir at the same time, and I'm pretty sure you could have much more in original vanilla (troll blood, defense + strength ect) so is alch still better than engineering?
