After what GW did to Astartes and TTS everyone in the community got scared of making actually half decent and worked on fan content so now we are stuck with hornybait sloppa and people making goofy gag comics about 40k for online relevance over being part of a niche community with fuckers like Idiot Of The East and that other dude who draws a bunch of hyper sloppa. It's almost like being hostile to fan content makes it so people won't want to make quality content anymore...
The fan art is still great though and just the general aesthetics of 40k do a lot of heavy lifting in inspiring great artists to work with it
