I think it would've been nice for him to realize what a traitor he was and what a mistake he made and turn on the Dominion but then that would have meant he'd have to actually care about Cardassia and not just himself, which he didn't. So that's fine. I would have preferred if Damar was the one who killed him in the end. Instead he just got to shoot some rando and it wasn't as impactful.
