PCSX2 had a 'hack' when you could have it go to software mode for FMVs and then swap back which fixes it, but they removed it for some reason.
I'm still looking into fixes because I want to play it at upscaled glory. It's funny that you brought it up because I was looking at it this weekend in between catching up on Dr. Stone episodes.
