Have you considered the possibility that the depressing world you see around you is affected by your state of mind? Life "sucks" until you make it not suck. Sure, it won't make your mom come back, but that's part of the life you were given. I don't know if you believe in God, but look around you, we have many examples of the animal kingdom where moms give up their lives so their kids can be born into the best examples of their species. Use your tragedy to keep going. It effects you negatively as longs as you view it negatively.
