You're right, even if I don't entirely agree with you on how important some of that is.

Zomboid is one of those "make your own fun" sandbox games, and it doesnt give everyone the tools to make their own fun.
I might enjoy the base building and decorating, where as you prefer something more like fighting off the helicopter horde.
The thing is, add to both of those (should) be an easy update as they add more stuff to the game. instead indie stone decided to add migrating deer and knapping to the game, two entirely new systems no one wanted.

The devs have a clear idea for what they want the game to be, and it is wholly different to why people enjoy the current game.
Neither of us will get what we want, hope you enjoy more zombies clogging the cities and your 10/10 fitness character tired after 4 swings of a baseball bat
