a real neat topic. from what I understand Star Trek got huge and was the first nerdy IP where fans were invested enough to organize conventions and make fanzines. This issue Zero of Vootie is from that early era, 1976, when people were still using the term "funny animal" instead of "furry". It was about ten years later that furry became the catch-all term and and furries started hosting conventions too.
