believe me, I'm extracting value from *what* you write, not how much you write, if I felt I wasn't getting anything from your posts I'd just ignore them kek
you've done well at extracting the point I'm trying to communicate and diagnosing the problem I'm having without me being able to articulate it for myself, I imagine /ic/ gets a lot of prebegs that talk more about the thought of drawing rather than asking for critique on what they draw, so it's a nice surprise for my questions and concerns about it to actually be addressed despite that fact
>you make it sound like you are extremely unhappy about the path you are on, and i think you can afford to be a bit more forgiving to yourself
I guess an analog to how I view my current approach to drawing is, imagine someone who's been able to capture gesture, form, expression well in their prebeg doodles, but they don't really capture exact details and measurements, and they want to learn how to do analytic figure studies (think picasso's stravinsky), but instead of accurately translating every line upside down in order to understand the relationships between the lines, they think it looks "wrong" and stop looking at the reference, start to fill in the blanks with where they think things should go, they guess how things ought to look, all with their prebeg brain that doesn't understand how things ought to look in neither an appealing or actual sense, and they do this because this is their comfort zone
studies are my comfort zone, details are my comfort zone, and even in exercises where I first set out to understand the abstract form of what I'm studying, I get carried away and start thinking "well, it doesn't actually look like this, does it? let me do my own thing..."
