I think it comes down to copying without understanding WHY something is the way it is. Makes me think of PUBG -> Ring of Elysium and how that ended up flopping despite in some ways being much more competent than PUBG was at the time. Or outside of games, artists whose gimmick is 'what if an old band was actually a couple of generations younger' eg. Led Zeppelin -> Greta Van Fleet.
You can see it in Arena Breakout by how the out of raid stuff barely matters outside of what's equipped on your character, maps that are designed like they were greyboxed first and only then setting was thought about after, only the gear that was in Tarkov at the time of development having realistic proportions and parts (as opposed to shit they add now which are fictionalised versions of real guns), etc.
