To add another...Subsaharan blacks are less able to control and override the "fight or flight" adrenaline response than other races. Being able to swim means being willing to jump into a substance that can potentially kill you while being calm and collected enough to control yourself in the water. Blacks are not able to do that as well. They get a little water up their nose or in their eyes and their fight or flight kicks in and they just flail around in a panic until they finally go under.
You can see the same type of response when they deal with police. Most people get nervous when they see a police car pull up behind them and maybe if you've been speeding or something else you'll have a little shot of adrenaline as a response. However most races are able to overcome that and maintain themselves, but many blacks are not and will just completely lose it and turn what would have been a speeding ticket into 3 felonies.
It sounds silly but its real, a study came out about the racial differences between fight and flight responses recently I just don't have it off the top of my head.
