I think I know what are you going after, but i feel it translates better in animation where you can see the before and after. with the context you gave

I think it could be fun to put the brido on a leash and the man pulling him down like cesar millan does on his show, so it can't interrupt the conversation/flirting.

It may be harder to draw but from what I've seen you can crush it if you go this way or another.
