Maybe I'm biased from being a zoomer but it seems to be mostly the case. We grew up with the edgy free internet and some of the best memes. Back in the early to mid 2010s, a lot of meme compilations and shit would full on have memes openly about finding anime girls hot and stuff. Lolis were even somewhat tolerated in many places. Then suddenly the people who previously hated "nerds" decided it was cool to be one. Anyone who has enjoyed the previously free era would've been appalled at the sudden uptick in people acting like faggots about everything. So eventually, they push back. Now you have people openly hornyposting everywhere among other things. Zoomer life was like a full dystopian novel saga that ends in a revolution. As a sidenote, I think Gen Alpha also seems based in between their brainrot. I'm not really sure why in that case though.
