You can read STARTING GATE! , it's Uma Musume old manga and still has traces of the series's abandoned yuri element, While character personality differences are to be expected (like Oguri being embarrassed for having huge appetite for example), the focus is clearly more into character relationship than the racing itself. There's not even a single race scene in the whole two volume of the manga, and conversation about races itself are very few and far in between. The aforementioned yuri element is more overt too. Like the meeting between Special Week and Silent Suzuka in volume one really feels like something straight out of a yuri manga. Not to mention, there is also scene in later volume where the entire school refer to Special Week and Silent Suzuka as a couple, like a romantic couple between Uma Musume is nothing new to them.
