>I had a caravan... under the impression her boyfriend owns the place???
Dude, leave and get some mental health assistance. I don't know where, but you sound and type like you have some mental illness. At some point you have to stop blaming other people, accept the fact that they were shits, and deal with your trauma and mental health.

That's only the short-term solution. The degradation of the family unit in the United States is a big factor, and shit like a decline in education has been making it even worse. There should, in a just world, be enough housing supply in any city where you can get a condo or a starter home for ~200K, with first time home buyers getting exclusive right to buy in selective new neighborhoods. That alone would help families grow and make it so that you don't get degenerates growing up. Minimum wage isn't the issue, skilled labor is. We don't educate people, High School and even colleges are a joke that fail to prepare people for modern workforce requirements, and actually getting a job and maintaining it is becoming harder and harder thanks to weakened labor protections and weakening unions.
Basically, Homelessness is a symptom of a failing society. To really solve it, you would have to actually stick to a long-term plan and make a lot of sacrifices to essentially wait for a tree to grow shade you might not get to enjoy. Americans are too stupid for that and re obsessed with politics on a 4-year cycle that rotates, so every four years all the changes made get reversed by the other party. Also, we don't nationalize anything because MUH socialism. Nationalized healthcare would probably help, I can imagine lots of people forgoe medical treatment and get a big bill and then boom homeless!
