That's really bizarre, because Nechronica is literally all about hope, friendship, and triumphing over despair. Also, every Ryo game is completely different in tone, or do you also avoid Ryuutama because Nechronica hurt your feelings?
Ventangle is imo way more bleak and depressive, and that's just because it's your standard cyberpunk setup, only with magic to make everything more fucked up - like plucking your soul out of your body and shoving it into animalistic manual labor meat machines for a few years/decades - and the fat cats at the top are literally ageless Eternal Leading Figures (ELFs).
Really, I don't get why you're in a thread about cyberpunk systems/settings if a game about hope and friendship triumphing over death itself is "too bleak and fucked up". I think you might need to go to DnD General and find yourself some Weenie Hut Jr. settings, because Cyberpunk is inherently about bleak, fucked up worlds full of bleak, fucked-up people.
