It annoys me too but Mage is basically a game about your Beliefs and that makes it prone to political beliefs as well.

Nah, some are actual Gods and some are Vampires
Some are both even, there is God Odin and there is Vampire Odin.
But just like Apophis and the Wyrm, people tend to think them as one even though they are not the same beings.
